Today is the one-year anniversary of a dear friend’s little boy who died tragically on October 12, 2008. I did not know Noah personally because I met his mother six months after his death. But I have come to know Noah through his mother.
He was a vibrant, happy child who loved balloons and play and food. On the day of his death, his mother had promised that they would make pumpkin sugar cut-out cookies but never got a chance to do so. She has asked her friends to make pumpkin cut-out cookies in remembrance of Noah and his beautiful, vivacious little boy energy by doing something that he would enjoy beyond measure.
I now pass this on to my circle. Ironically, last week I posted a pumpkin cut-out cookie recipe. Feel free to use that recipe or one of your own. His mom is spreading the word amongst her circle of friends (which goes around the world) to see if we can make enough cookies to connect all of us! If you are unable to participate, Noah’s mom has asked that we please remember this October 12 (and always) to celebrate the precious gift of life we have been given and to never let a second go by without telling those we love how much they mean to us and how irreplaceable they are! I add to this a request to send light and love and prayers to Noah and his Mom and to hold a thought today in your heart for all parents who have lost a child–thank you!
If you are able to make some cookies and want to send me pictures of the cookies you make, that would be so wonderful!!! I’ll pass them along to Noah’s mother.
Happy International Pumpkin Cookie Day!
