In just four short days the United Nations Climate Conference begins! It will take place from December 7 through December 18, 2009. This is a very critical conference–there is much to consider for the future environmental and economic crises in our world!
Today I received an email from Hopenhagen.org. Hopenhagen is a movement with a very specific mission. Their stated mission is “To connect every person, every city, and every nation to Copenhagen. To give everyone hope, and a platform from which to act. To create a grassroots movement that’s powerful enough to influence change.” Please become a part of this great cause and act today by taking the steps outlined in their email which is posted below.
“This is it! The final few days are rapidly counting down to the United Nations Climate Conference in Copenhagen starting on December 7th. It has never been more critical to act than right now. You can help make the conference a success by mobilizing everyone you know today. Below are a few things you can do that can and will make a difference.
Most important, send an email to 10 friends now asking them to sign the petition. (Below is a sample email you can send to your friends to take action.)
Blog and tweet about the Hopenhagen movement.
Change your Facebook status to “Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen. Become a citizen at hopenhagen.org”.
Update your profile picture with a Hopenhagen Twibbon! It’s easy to add the Hopenhagen emblem to your profile pic and show your support for the movement.
Act now! Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen.”
Here is the email to send to friends:
“On December 7, leaders from 192 countries will gather at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen to determine the fate of our planet. Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen. Hopenhagen is a movement, a moment and a chance at a new beginning. The hope that we can create a global community that will lead our leaders into making the right decisions. The hope that by solving our environmental crisis, we can solve our economic crisis at the same time. Hopenhagen is change – and that change will be powered by all of us.
Help lead the leaders by visiting hopenhagen.org today. Sign the petition. Become a citizen of Hopenhagen. Fuel the movement. More important, pass on the story of Hopenhagen to your friends and family by sending an email and ask them to sign the petition as well. Encourage everyone you can to get involved and sign the petition. Because the more of us who do, the more our leaders will recognize the world is serious about change.
Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen.”
DID YOU KNOW…
350.org is currently working to mobilize candlelight vigils throughout the world on the weekend of December 12 (the weekend that falls in the middle of the Copenhagen conference).

*Click here to search the map for a vigil near you www.350.org/map.
FOR TODAY…I will go to the links above and make my voice heard. I will look for ways to continue to build momentum for awareness of the Copenhagen Climate Conference between now and December 18, 2009.
