One definition of the noun “work” is “exertion or effort directed to produce or accomplish something; labor; toil.” Doesn’t sound like much fun to me!
I want my work life to be enjoyable and if I’m doing what I feel passionate about, it should feel effortless. What I call a Bellisima Work Life is making money doing what I love in as little time as possible–according to author Timothy Ferris it can be as little as four hours per week. Sound impossible? Well, according to Mr. Ferris, “Life doesn’t have to be so damn hard. It really doesn’t. Most people, my past self included, have spent too much time convincing themselves that life has to be hard, a resignation to 9-to-5 drudgery in exchange for (sometimes) relaxing weekends and the occasional keep-it-short-or-get-fired vacation.”
Sound familiar? Whether or not you agree with everything Mr. Ferris says in The 4-Hour Workweek, or whether or not you have the desire to be an entrepreneur, his book is an opportunity to reevaluate your current work life to see if it’s really serving you. He challenges you to look at what, why and how you’re doing what you’re doing.
With regard to my own work life, my goal is to create Passive Streams of Income (making money without full-time hours) through meaningful work (work that is an expression of my essence and serves others) so that I can be Financially Free (making enough money to live the lifestyle I choose). Streams of Income can be diverse and varied. We are not limited to one avenue for creating a stream of income–we can have many!
According to Deepak Chopra in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, each of us “has a unique talent and a unique way of expressing it. There is something that you can do better than anyone else in the world–and for every unique talent and unique expression of that talent, there are also unique needs. When these needs are matched with the creative expression of your talent, that is the spark that creates affluence. Expressing your talents to fulfill needs creates unlimited wealth and abundance.”
If you are not clear what unique gifts and talents you possess, I strongly recommend that you begin a process of self-discovery. You can pursue this on your own or with the assistance of a mentor or life coach. This process is an exciting opportunity to connect with the spirit within that energizes both your body and mind. As you connect to your deeper self, you will then be able to see your own unique gifts and talents and discover ways for their expression.
Taking my life experience, my love of writing, and combining that with my passion for holistic wellness and green living, my blog, Bellisima Goddess, was born. Understanding my desire to connect with others, Bellisima Living, LLC has now been created and is a vehicle for delivering workshops, speaking to groups, facilitating green wisdom circles, and coaching individuals and businesses in their movement towards a greener lifestyle. It is also the avenue for promoting other products and services within the green and wellness communities.
As you look for avenues of self-expression, I highly encourage you to take a look at the Direct Sell Industry (if you’re not already in the business). Find something to sell that you love and believe in. For me, it is important to partner with businesses such as the Chopra Center Store which offer products that enhance well-being, nourish body and soul, replenish skin and spirit, and help to create a harmonious home environment. Through our partnering, I am able to promote products aligned with what I care about most–products that contribute to a green and holistically healthy lifestyle and planet. More partnerships are being formed in order that I may offer products to support people from head to toe and room to room. Watch for new partnerships through my featured links and pages. In order to assist my family and others and support a healthy diet, I am a distributor for Juice Plus, maker of whole food based nutrition which provides a simple, convenient, and inexpensive way to add more nutrition from fruits and vegetables to your diet! I also use Send Out Cards to build my business relationships and stay connected to family and friends. I love making extra money using a system that helps streamline my business and allows me to connect with others in a very special way.
All of these affiliations and partnerships are in direct alignment with what I am most passionate about: health and wellness, green living, and deepening connections.
Whatever each of us decides to do to create our Bellisima Work Life, it is most important that we love what we’re doing. May your work feel like that described by Kahlil Gibran in The Prophet. “When you work you are a flute through whose heart the whispering of the hours turns to music. . . .And what is it to work with love? It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth. . .”
